1. Best for Retirees: Why S-MM2H is the Top Choice

For many retirees, the Sarawak MM2H (S-MM2H) offers the most balanced path to residency. Unlike the National program, Sarawak does not make property purchase mandatory.

Furthermore, S-MM2H allows for part-time work (up to 20 hours a week) in specialized sectors — for those who want to stay active in their professional fields while enjoying their "second home" years.

2. Best for High-Net-Worth Individuals: The National Platinum Tier

If you are looking for maximum flexibility and long-term stability, the National MM2H Platinum Tier is the gold standard. While it requires a higher financial commitment (

$1 million fixed deposit), it is the only tier that grants you the right to conduct business and work full-time in Malaysia.

With a 20-year renewable visa, it provides the security for families looking to establish a permanent base for business and international schooling in West Malaysia.

3. The "Why Sarawak?" Advantage: Flexibility of Stay

  • National MM2H: Requires you to spend 90 days per year in the country (for those under 50).

  • S-MM2H & Sabah: Only requires 30 days per year.

This 30-day requirement allows you to maintain your residency status easily without having to uproot your global lifestyle.
