Sarawak MM2H (S-MM2H) FAQS

1. What is S-MM2H and how is it different from MM2H?

S-MM2H (Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home) is a long-term residency programme managed by the Sarawak State Government.
It is separate from the Federal MM2H, with its own financial requirements, approval process, and benefits.

You must stay in Sarawak for at least 30 days each year to qualify for renewal after 5 years.

2. Can I apply for the Sarawak MM2H (S-MM2H) on my own?

No. All S-MM2H applications must be submitted through a licensed S-MM2H agent approved by the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.

3. Can I convert my West Malaysia MM2H visa or Sabah MM2H visa to Sarawak MM2H?

Yes, but you must reapply under Sarawak’s programme and meet its specific conditions.

4. How much is the application fee for the Sarawak MM2H (S-MM2H)?

The one-time application processing fee is RM5,000.
The licensed agent fee is RM12,000 for main applicant and RM2,000 for each dependent.

5. Are there other fees involved in the S-MM2H application?
Yes. Besides the one time application processing fee and agent fee, applicants must also cover the following additional costs:

Certified documents
Medical check-up in Sarawak
Medical insurance (for applicant and dependents under 60)
Security bond (varies by country of origin)
Immigration visa fees
These fees may differ depending on your nationality and personal circumstances.

1. How do I apply for the Sarawak MM2H visa?

Submit your application through a licensed S-MM2H agent approved by the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP).

2. How long does the approval process take?

Processing usually takes 3 to 6 months, depending on document completeness and verification time.

3. Do I need to visit Sarawak for the application?

Yes, you'll need to visit Sarawak to do medical check up, set up your bank account, Fixed deposit funds, get insurance (if under 60), and finalize your visa.

4. What documents are required for the application?

Application form and passport size photos (valid at least 24 months)
Certified copy of passport
Resume / CV
Original copy of Letter of Good Conduct (LoGC)
Certified proof of income or bank statements
Marriage / Birth Certificates (if with dependents)
Medical report from hospital in Sarawak

1. What is the fixed deposit amount requirement for S-MM2H?

A mandatory RM500,000 fixed deposit (Main Applicant) must be placed in any S-MM2H panel local bank in Sarawak.

2. What is the minimum monthly income requirement?

You can qualify under Option A or B:

A)
Regular income: Pension letter OR Payslips
Minimum income: RM10,000/month (Individual) or RM15,000/month (with Dependent)

B)
Show sufficient savings:
Minimum balance: RM100,000 (Individual) or RM200,000 (with Dependent)

3. What documents are needed to prove monthly income?

Please refer to Question 2 to choose your category (Option A or Option B):

Option A:
Certified copy of pension letter and latest 3 months government approved pension funds, OR
Copy of employment confirmation and latest 3 months payslip and bank statements

Option B:

Certified copy of bank account statement as proof of savings fund for the latest 3 months

4. Can I withdraw money from my fixed deposit?

Yes, after 1 year, you may withdraw up to 50% of your Fixed Deposit for:
Buying a house or car in Sarawak
Medical expenses in Sarawak
Children’s education in Sarawak

1. Who is eligible to apply for the Sarawak MM2H (S-MM2H) programme?

The S-MM2H programme is open to citizens of all countries except Israel and North Korea, aged 30 years and above.

2. Can I include my family members in my application?

Yes. You can include your spouse, children under 21 years old (unmarried), and main applicant's parents as dependents.

3.How long is the S-MM2H visa valid?

The visa is valid for 10 years (5 + 5) — the initial approval is for 5 years, and it can be renewed for another 5 years.
Renewal is subject to residency and financial requirements.

4. Can I work in Sarawak under this visa?

S-MM2H visa holders are generally not allowed to work full-time. However, they can work part time up to 20 hours per week in professional jobs in sectors approved by the ILMU through MTCP.

*Professional sector: Education, Banking/Securities, Manufacturing and Medical.

5. Can I still run a business in Sarawak under this visa?

Yes. S-MM2H holders can be a minority partner (up to 49%) in a joint venture with a local partner, in sectors approved by ILMU, with a minimum paid-up capital of RM250,000.

6. Is buying property in Sarawak required to apply for S-MM2H?

No, buying property is not required.
