Whether you’re here under the Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home (SMM2H) program or simply visiting Sarawak for holiday, one of the enjoyable ways to explore the town is through its food. Here are several options along with their approximate prices.

1. Local Cuisine

This is the food that will become your new comfort food. These are the dishes you'll find at local kopitiams/ food courts (local coffee shops) with many food stalls inside, locals like to visit in the morning and lunch time.

Food: Sarawak Laksa, nasi lemak, toast with half boiled eggs, kolo mee, roti canai, ecomonic rice, chicken rice and etc.

Price: A main meal for one is typically around RM 4‑15.

2.  International Cuisine

Sarawak also offers a good range of international cuisine — they are mostly found in malls and restaurants in urban areas.

Lunch specials often offer better value for money than dinner.

Food:

• Western Cafés & Bistros: Burgers, pasta, steaks, and brunch menus.

• Japanese & Korean Restaurants: Sushi, ramen, Bibimpap, Korean BBQ.

• Indian & Middle Eastern Cuisine: Curries, naan, shawarma, and kebabs.

3. Night Market

The locals call it Pasar Malam ( in Malay). You’ll find local cuisines from Chinese, Malay and indigenous all in one spot.

A relaxed evening for eat on the go, a drink to go with it makes it even better.

Food: Satay, Apam Balik (a Malaysian pancake), fried foods, handmake cake & dessert and etc.

Price: Around RM3–RM5 per item
